Mobile Management

We’ve started making the Layer0 console responsive, so it’s easier to use the Layer0 console from mobile devices. This will be a gradual process but we’ve already started updating a number of components including the sign-in flow, main menus and headers, and teams page.

Build Screenshots

Customers frequently tell us how much our branch preview feature makes them more productive by enabling anyone on the team preview development work currently in-flight on any branch. In addition, they can deploy with confidence knowing it’s easy to rollback to any previous build. We’ve enhanced branch preview with snapshots. After every deploy, Layer0 will take a screenshot of that build’s homepage so it’s easier to preview and find the branch you’re looking for.

Copy as cURL

Last newsletter we announced Deep Request Inspection for serverless that lets you inspect every HTTP request your site receives and the upstream API requests your code makes. We’ve enhanced the feature by adding a “Copy as cURL” button that lets you easily replicate and debug API calls locally using the popular curl utility.

Next.js Support Rewrites

We’ve continued to keep up with the latest release of Next.js and added native support Header, Cookie, and Query Matching for rewrites and redirects. Note that you can already implement similar behavior using EdgeJS and it will work for any framework, not just Next.js! Our EdgeJS cookbook (https://docs.layer0.co/guides/cookbook) is a great way to get started on learning how to configure routing.

Easier EdgeJS details

Easier EdgeJS details

Layer0's EdgeJS enables developers to control routing and caching behavior directly from application code. Recently we embedded your routing code directly into the Layer0 console so it was easier to view your edge behaviors without having to go back to your source code. We've enhanced that feature by letting you dive directly into the statistics and cache metrics details for a single route by just clicking on it.

Deploy to Layer0 Buttons

The Deploy to Layer0 button makes it easy to try out frameworks like Next.js, Nuxt.js, and Vue Storefront on Layer0 with just a few clicks, no command-line needed! All you need is a Layer0 account and a Github account. We’ve added these buttons to the home page of our docs and created a guide for how you can create customized Deploy to Layer0 buttons. Follow the link below to create your own Deploy button.

Spotlight Search

Spotlight Search

There’s a lot of power in the Layer0 platform. Sometimes, though, with great power comes...a little friction finding things. So we’ve made it easier to quickly search through Teams, Sites, and Settings with our spotlight search that’s modeled after similar features in developer tools like VS Code and Chrome DevTools. Just hit Command-Shift-P next time you’re in the Layer0 console and give it a try.

Serverless Deep Request Inspection

Serverless Deep Request Inspection

Layer0’s Serverless Deep Request Inspection lets you deeply inspect every HTTP request your site makes. In addition to seeing the body and headers of all requests and responses, you can also see all upstream requests that were made to your APIs during server side rendering as well as any messages or errors that were logged. Access this feature by tailing the server logs on any deployment.

We’ve migrated the Layer0 packages to use esbuild under the hood for bundling instead of webpack. This should not affect the use of webpack in your project and should in fact make builds faster and less likely to have conflicts with the version of webpack you are using in your project.

Routes.js Caching Statistics

One of Layer0’s signature features is EdgeJS — World’s first JS-based CDN, which lets you control the Edge (or configure Layer0’s CDN) directly from your application code. Our recent update takes this a step further and now displays the caching statistics directly in the code of your routes.js file. Optimizing your cache hit rate has never been easier.

Sourcemaps are a very powerful tool for debugging your code in compressed JavaScript and CSS files. Razzle

Even though Layer0 can work with any framework, we continue to expand the tools that have pre-built integrations so you can get your project up and running on Layer0 quickly with less config. Recently we added support for Razzle — a tool that abstracts all complex configuration needed for both SPA's and SSR applications into a single dependency, giving you the awesome developer experience of create-react-app, but then leaving the rest of your app's architectural decisions about frameworks, routing, and data fetching up to you. With this approach, Razzle not only works with React, but also Preact, Vue, Svelte, and Angular, and most importantly...whatever comes next.
